The incident occurred while Shriver was staying at a hotel in Marina Del Rey following her evacuation from her Brentwood residence due to the wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

Shriver took to social media to share the unfortunate news, revealing that she and her son were at a police station to report the theft of their car from the hotel parking lot where they had sought refuge during the fires. The stolen vehicle contained the majority of Shriver's major trophies, which she had been storing there until it was safe to return home.

The car disappearance took place at the Marina Del Rey DoubleTree, where Shriver and her family were temporarily residing after evacuating their home due to the Pacific Palisades fire.
