Emma Raducanu has broken up with her boyfriend Carlo Agostinelli after a year of dating, as the relationship had “run its course”.
The couple, once frequently seen sharing holiday photos, are no longer together. The Grand Slam tennis champion, who recently missed the French Open, has also unfollowed Agostinelli on social media.
A source told the Sun newspaper that the relationship “had run its course”.
“Emma has 2.4million followers on Instagram but Carlo is no longer one of them,” this person told the tabloid on Sunday.
Carlo Agostinelli is the son of US financer Robert Agostinelli, who made his £780 million fortune as founder of private equity firm Rhine Group.
Agostinelli, 23, grew up in the UK and was head boy at the prestigious Harrow School. He was also part of the academy at Tottenham Hotspur, although he never made the first team.
He has since moved to the United States to study at Stanford University in California, where he also played football before recently announcing on Instagram that he has decided to quit.
Raducanu now appears fully focused on next month's Wimbledon, leaving behind memories of holidays in Greece and Mexico with Carlo.
The 21-year-old, who grew up in Bromley and wasn't allowed to date while at school, has been sharing Instagram posts of her travels and training, without mentioning the split.
Raducanu has fallen to 205th in the world rankings following an injury-plagued period after her sensational win at the 2021 US Open when she was only 18.
She missed much of last season because of injury but has shown signs of promise since her comeback from triple surgery on both her wrists and an ankle.
“I feel good,” she told Grazia magazine. “I’m playing well and I’m training really hard. I’m doing a lot of good things and I know it’s going to happen. If not this Wimbledon, next Wimbledon.”
