A Tennessee police officer delivered a pizza after arresting the original delivery driver on drug-related charges, making sure the customer's order was completed while the suspect was taken to jail.

On Sunday, January 12, Mt. Juliet Police Department's license plate recognition system flagged a vehicle connected to a 34-year-old Smyrna man wanted for failure to appear on drug charges in Rutherford County.

The man, who was making a pizza delivery at the time, was stopped and arrested during a traffic stop on Lebanon Road, police stated.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked into Wilson County Jail, but rather than leave the customer waiting, an officer stepped in to complete the delivery.

"To ensure the customer wasn't left hungry, one of our officers stepped in and completed the delivery," the department wrote on Facebook. "Just another way we serve—even if it means delivering pizza!"

The police department's creative handling of the situation garnered significant attention on social media, with both praise for their resourcefulness and amusement at their willingness to go above and beyond.

Meanwhile, the suspect faces legal proceedings for his outstanding charges.
