Ten Pound Poms season 2: release date, recaps, plot, cast, trailer and everything we know

Michelle Keegan plays Kate Thorne in Ten Pound Poms season 2.

Get ready to head back to Australia for Ten Pound Poms season 2, starring Michelle Keegan, Faye Marsay and Warren Brown.

The first season of Danny Brocklehurst's drama followed the fortunes of a group of Brits who traveled Down Under in search of new lives as part of an assisted migration scheme during the 1950s.

“The positive viewer response to Ten Pound Poms was a true delight," says Danny Brocklehurst. "We tapped into a little-known part of our recent history and told stories which reflected the realities of the real Poms that made the trip. I couldn't be more thrilled to be teaming again with the BBC, Stan and Eleven to continue our characters' adventure down under.”

In late 2024 the BBC released a host of new images of the series showing all our favourite faces from last time out and a host of new characters. The newbies include the Skinner family, who've arrived from Ireland, and unscrupulous landlord Benny Bates.

Here's everything we know about the second season of Ten Pound Poms...

Ten Pound Poms season 2 trailer

The first trailer for Ten Pound Poms season 2 has finally dropped, check it out below!

Ten Pound Poms season 2 plot

The first season of Ten Pound Poms ended in a whirlwind, with Annie Roberts leading a revolt against camp manager JJ Walker and his villainous mother, while Annie's daughter Pattie finally gave birth.

Elsewhere Sheila Anderson, who felt trapped and isolated by her frankly horrible husband Bill, tried to take her own life, only to be rescued by JJ, and nurse Kate Thorne shared an emotional reunion with her lost son Michael.

After spending so long searching for him, it seems she then said her goodbyes and decided to move on with her life by heading to Cairns with her husband — although others have wondered whether she might have kidnapped her boy when she was seen driving off with him in a car at the end of the final episode.

Here's an official synopsis for Ten Pound Poms season 2...

"After a challenging first year in Australia, the new series will follow nurse Kate Thorne (Michelle Keegan) and the Roberts family (led by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown) into 1957 on their adventure down under, as they are determined to make this new country everything they hoped it would be for a fresh start. Will Kate, Terry and Annie finally get a slice of the Australian dream they were promised?

"Series two will also introduce some exciting new characters, including the Skinner family, fresh off the boat from Ireland and the unscrupulous land-lord Benny Bates, who makes Terry an offer he can’t refuse as he attempts to put down roots for his family. But will these new characters bring some sunshine into our returning characters’ lives… or just more drama?"
