We all love a good cracker joke - but when you've heard the same ones time and time again, they do tend to get a bit old. Luckily for you, there's some new material available - and it's stuff we can all relate to.
For the tenth year running, TV channel Gold challenged the nation to come up with the best topical Christmas cracker jokes, with Will Smith, Liz Truss and King Charles III among the subjects for 2022's funniest quip. Despite the dearth of material this year, the winner turned out to be a classic dad joke about Christmas dinner and members of parliament.

Gold challenged the public to send them their original festive gags on twitter which which were shortlisted by a panel of judges led by comedy critic Bruce Dessau. The list was then put to an anonymous public vote of 2,000 brits.
Dessau said: "After another year of ups and downs the British public has delivered the laughs, with this year's modern Christmas cracker jokes covering topics from the rising cost of living to queue-jumping presenters and politicians performing U-turns. Proving that once again we're a nation with an unrelenting sense of humour!"
The top six jokes are included within bespoke boxes of Gold's Christmas crackers, which were presented to this year's winners.
