Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are battling a massive house blaze in south London with large flames seen rising into the sky.
Emergency services were called out shortly after 2am this morning and are continuing to battle the fire at a residential home in Chelsfield Hill, Orpington.
The roof of the property is alight and 70 firefighters are using long hoses from ten fire engines to tackle it, reported MyLondon.
Local residents are being advised to keep windows and doors shut due to large amounts of smoke.
London Fire Brigade tweeted: "Crews are working hard to tackle a fire in the roof of a house in #Orpington. The fire is creating a lot of smoke and nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors shut."
The brigade shared a dramatic picture of the blaze on Twitter in the early hours of this morning, with firefighters dowsing flames coming from the roof of the house.
Crews from Orpington, Biggin Hill, Bromley and surrounding stations are at the scene.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
London Fire Brigade earlier stated: "10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters are at the scene of a fire in Chelsfield Hill #Orpington. The roof of a detached house is alight."
Station Commander Clive Robinson, who is at the scene, said: "Crews are working extremely hard to bring this large fire under control, and are expected to remain at the scene for some time.
"The fire is creating a lot of smoke and people in the nearby area should keep their windows and doors shut."
A statement from London Fire Brigade published at 2.17am said: "The A21 is currently closed between Rushmore Hill and Hewitts roundabout. Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible.
"The Brigade was called at 0217. Fire crews from Orpington, Biggin Hill, Bromley and surrounding stations are at the scene."
And the fire brigade reiterated the road same road closures at 6am repeating that motorists should still avoid the area.
It did state that "crews are making steady progress tackling a fire in the roof of a house in #Orpington."
