Shopping in Greater Manchester has changed beyond recognition in the last 25 years. From the Trafford Centre to the Arndale Centre, from Afflecks Palace to the Triangle, customers are spoilt for choice.

Going even further back, Manchester has lost department stores like Lewis's and Paulden's, as well as smaller favourites like the Spin Inn record shop, at the centre of the Northern Soul scene, and Guys n Dolls, the trendy clothing boutique where fashionable young Mancunians shopped in the 1970s.
