NHS dentistry is in crisis: the number of active NHS dentists in England is at its lowest level in a decade, and up to 90% of practices are not accepting new NHS patients. Only a third of adults, and half of children, have access to an NHS dentist in England.

The impact of this is being felt in A&E, according to research from the Labour party, with tens of thousands of people ending up in A&E with tooth decay because they cannot see a dentist.
