Tell us if you think meal deals should be banned

After calls were made last week to ban meal deals, we want to hear your thoughts on whether this is something that should be put in place.

The Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) clinical lead, Dr. O'Shea, said last Wednesday that the meals should be made illegal in a bid to tackle the obesity crisis.

Dr. O'Shea remarked on how the meals almost always contain solely unhealthy options, and that they 'should be illegal'.

Some readers have already commented on the suggestion, with one saying: " I think it's stupid that they are doing away with the meal deal.

It not only helps people who work but is also for people that don't have much money, at least they are able to eat one meal and can choose if its healthy or not. I say let it stay."

Another added: " I think if they were stop the meal deals they would lose a lot of money. I buy the meal deals to get through a 12 hour shift so I'm thankful they do them at a fair price. So if they were to ban them for the silliest reason then that's stupid."

Some made comparisons with other unhealthy foods, saying: "T ry banning McDonald’s first… before a ham salad sandwich and bag of crisps!"

One reader also added: " That makes no sense. Packed lunches, workers and even the less fortunate need meal deals.

"How does banning sandwiches curb obesity but we have chicken shops everywhere and online fast food services that should have been banned a long time ago."
