HYDERABAD: Except two of the 119 MLAs from Telangana assembly, rest all cast their votes in the presidential election on Monday. While minister Gangula Kamalakar did not vote due to Covid-19 infection, MLA Vemulawada Chennamaneni Ramesh could cast his ballot as he is abroad. The value of each vote from Telangana is 132 in the electoral college, which comes to 15,708 for 119 votes.
The TRS MLAs came to the assembly for polling in a special bus from Telangana Bhavan. After polling began at 10 am, TRS working president KT Rama Rao cast his vote first followed by others. All AIMIM MLAs cast their votes. Congress MLAs came separately.
Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is usually among the first to vote, came to assembly in the afternoon after returning from Hanamkonda. The CM was in Warangal reviewing rain situation and relief measures.
YSRCP MLA from AP, M Maheedhar Reddy, preferred to vote in Hyderabad due to personal reasons.
TRS has supported joint opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha. TRS working president KTR has also attended nomination programme of Sinha. CM KCR later invited him to Hyderabad for campaign. Sinha's meeting with Congress MLAs didn't happen as the party stayed away despite deciding to vote for him.
