Tekken 8 is getting Final Fantasy XVI's Clive Rosfield as a new DLC fighter for Bandai Namco's popular fighting game.
The major reveal is part of the first wave of DLC coming to Season 1 of Tekken 8 and will see a collaboration between two highly popular games. The reveal came alongside a trailer that showed Clive in all his glory as he fights Jin Kazama.
Tekken 8's New DLC Fighter
The footage showed Clive making use of a variety of techniques to engage in battle against his opponent. He can be seen using his sword as his primary weapon to deal damage with basic attacks.
On top of this, Clive can be seen spawning wings and using aerial attacks to strike enemies with great speed.
Fans also see the Final Fantasy XVI protagonist summoning the legendary Ifrit, which appears to be his form of Rage Art in Tekken 8, according to Event Hubs.
Bandai Namco also showed what appeared to be a brand new stage coming to Tekken 8, which looks like a Final Fantasy-themed area. It would most likely come alongside the release of Clive as a DLC fighter.
The studio also shared Clive's release date, revealing that the Final Fantasy XVI character will be coming to Tekken 8 next week.
There will also be a 72-hour early access for the character starting on Dec. 16, 2024, for players who own the Playable Character Year 1 Pass.
Clive will also be available through Bandai Namco's fighting game Season Pass, which includes other fighters Eddy Gordo, Lidia Sobieska, and Heihachi Mishima.
Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada previously said that they were not considering adding new guest characters at this time, Newsweek said.
Final Fantasy XVI's Clive Rosfield
But in recent months, he has acknowledged that there has been massive fan demand for particular characters to be added to Tekken 8. These include Tifa from Final Fantasy VII and Kiryu from Like a Dragon.
Tekken 8 originally launched in January 2024 and is available on PC and consoles except for Nintendo Switch. It was a very successful game and was able to sell more than 2 million copies in its first month.
Many fans shared their predictions of who Bandai Namco was planning to add to Tekken 8 ahead of the official reveal of Clive. They thought that the studio could have introduced someone like Goro Majima.
Clive's coming to the company's fighting game is a major development, but it is not the first time that a non-Tekken character has made its way to the franchise.
Previous additions include Geese Howard of Fatal Fury, Noctis of Final Fantasy XV, and Negan of The Walking Dead, according to The Gamer.
