Teens swarm Asda for YouTubers' £1.50 energy drink after it goes viral on TikTok

Desperate teenagers are swarming supermarkets to grab a £1.50 energy drink created by two popular YouTubers.

Footage has emerged on TikTok showing youngsters storming into Asda before 10am to get their hands on the sweet beverage.

The video shows excited teens charging into the Castlepoint Superstore in Bournemouth, Dorset and scavenging through shelves to get a chance to try the Prime Hydration energy drinks.

The drink, made by YouTube stars Logan Paul and KSI, is a mix of coconut water, sweeteners and vitamins.

Prime Hydration energy drink comes in seven flavours - Meta Moon, Ice Pop, Orange, Blue Raspberry, Tropical Punch, Lemon Lime and Grape.

Logan Paul and KSI have almost 50 million subscribers on YouTube combined and are popular with teenage viewers.

The drink has been highly popular on TikTok, with the YouTubers promoting their creation as well as buyers sharing their journeys of running into ASDA to purchase the popular drink.

Individual bottles are being sold for up to £60 a time on eBay.

One Asda employee said: “On Sunday we finally had a fresh delivery and there were about thirty kids outside before we had opened.

“At 9.30am we had a member of security outside trying to keep it all under control. As soon as the doors opened they sprinted for the energy drink aisle.

“It was chaos, they cleared the shelves within minutes and were pushing and shoving each other to get their hands on some.”

One disappointed customer said: “I was really looking forward to getting some Prime, I was looking forward to it all day. I'll keep trying to get some.”

A spokesman for Asda added: “Prime is available in all of our larger superstores and we are pleased that customers are enjoying it.

“We know how popular this product is and we would like to assure customers that our stores are regularly receiving stock.”

Due to the popularity of the YouTubers, the drink has regularly sold out when hitting the shelves.

It led to KSI recently posting online: “It’s always sold out, man. Honestly, people are selling it on the black market."

“The only place you’re meant to get PRIME is Asda and Arsenal stadium. But people are getting it at petrol stations!"

He added: “Asda employees aren’t even putting it on the shelves anymore. They’re shipping it out lowkey. They’re like ‘what’s the point, I put it on the shelf, and it’s gone instantly.”

There has also been footage on TikTok showing security tags attached to the drink, with one Twitter user claiming he was followed by security inside the store.

The tweet said: “I had asdas security follow me and my mate knowing we was looking for prime and then 2 of the stopped us and searched our basket to make sure we didn’t take too many”.
