Horror as teen is hit by a car outside school after street brawl erupts

A teenager was rushed to hospital after he was deliberately hit by a car after a brawl erupted outside a school in Erith.

Police were called to the scene after a “large-scale” disturbance broke out outside King Henry School shortly before 4.15pm on Thursday.

A 15-year-old boy was reportedly hit with a baseball bat after a group of males got out of a car and chased him down Bexley Road.

Another student, who was also 15, was hit by a car which mounted the pavement on Avenue Road.

“Staff provided immediate care to the student, with the police and ambulance service called to the scene. The student is now being treated in hospital,” a spokesperson for the school said.

The school is in “close contact with the family of the student affected,” they continued.

“We continue to work closely with the police as they commence their investigations into this serious incident.

“Additional counselling is being provided on site for any students or staff who have witnessed this appalling incident.”

The London Ambulance Service confirmed they sent a crew and “a teenager was treated for leg injuries and taken to hospital”.

Both of the boys’ injuries were assessed as non life-threatening, the Metropolitan Police said.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. It is not known whether the fight was gang-related.

The Metropolitan Police have issued a dispersal order which excludes people from entering the immediate area for up to 48 hours.

The Section 35 order is in force until 5pm on Saturday, January 22.
