Teenager who tracked Elon Musk's jet starts following Russian oligarch planes

The teenager who went viral on Twitter for tracking Elon Musk's private jet has launched a new account monitoring planes belonging to Russian oligarchs.

Jack Sweeney, 19, said he launched the account @RUOligarchJets after being inundated with requests.

It comes as severe economic sanctions have been slapped down on Russian oligarchs and banks to try and cripple Russia's economy and weaken their invasion tactics.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has faced international condemation after invading Ukraine.

He insists it is not a "war" and only describes his invasions as a "special military operation" to "deNazify" Ukraine.

Jack says the oligarchs travel in commercial-sized planes like Boeing 737s.

Jack told Bloomberg News : "The aircrafts these oligarchs have are absolutely crazy. Their planes are huge compared to other jets."

Among the people he has tracked is Vladimir Potanin, who is Russia ’s wealthiest person, Roman Abramovich, who recently handed over control of Chelsea football club to its charitable foundation, and steel magnate Alexander Abramov.

Abramovich has not faced any sanctions from the UK government.

The president of Paragon Intel, which give corporate aviation intelligence through its product JetTrack, described Jack's accounts as the "People Magazine version" of corporate aviation intelligence.

Colby Howard said: "People are obsessed with wealth more than ever. It’s almost a form of paparazzi, that’s why this is popular."

He added that Jack's account doesn't reveal who is actually on the flights.

The tweets on the account show where the jumbo jets are going and who owns them.

Jack gained notoriety for tracking the private jets of A-lister celebrities and billionaires including Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos.

One of the student's recent accounts @ElonJet went viral with Tesla founder offering him money to take down the account.

It comes as Hackers Anonymous renamed Vladimir Putin’ s £73million superyacht “FCKPTN” and made it look as though it had crashed into Snake Island, in another attack on the president.

The group broke into the vessel’s maritime data and changed its destination to “Hell”, before changing it to the small island where 13 Ukrainians stood up to a Russian warship.

It also changed the name of the yacht, which boasts a helipad and a swimming pool that converts into a dance floor, to Anonymous and Anonleaks before FCKPTN.

The group wrote on Twitter : “Now Putin's yacht is on the right track! ;) #FckPutin. With love, #Anonymous.”
