A TEENAGER was taken to hospital with an abrasion following an altercation in a Singleton schoolyard.
Police were called to the school St Catherine's College on Combo Lane, Singleton shortly after 10am on Thursday, August 1 following reports of an alleged assault.
Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District responded and were told three boys were allegedly involved in a physical altercation.
As a result of the fight, a 15-year-old boy was taken to Singleton Hospital for the treatment of bruising and an abrasion.
A Catholic-Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle spokesperson confirmed the isolated incident involving multiple students occurred at St Catherine's College, Singleton.
"The safety and wellbeing of all students and staff remains our first priority and relevant support is being provided to those affected," the spokesperson said.
"We want to reassure students, families, staff and the community that violence within our schools is not tolerated."
"Any reports of such incidents will be met with a comprehensive and thorough response and reported to police when appropriate."
NSW police said they are continuing their inquiries into the incident.
