A teenager was taken to hospital on Wednesday afternoon after she was reportedly bitten by a dog in Hebburn.
The 15-year-old girl was walking on Kipling Avenue when a man with a dog passed her and the dog reportedly jumped up and bit her on the arm.
The girl was taken to South Tyneside Hospital by ambulance at around 4pm.
Police have confirmed enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances around the incident.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: 'Police received a report of a concern for safety after teenager was reported to have been bitten by a dog in Hebburn.'
'The incident is believed to have happened at around 3.50pm on Wednesday, February 9 when the 15 year old was walking on Kipling Avenue.'
'A man with a dog passed the teen when it has reportedly jumped up and bitten her on the arm. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances around the incident.'
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a female injured in Kipling Avenue, Hebburn, at 3.46pm on 9 February."
"We dispatched one ambulance crew and a rapid response paramedic, and transported the patient to South Tyneside Hospital."
