A teenager has been taken to hospital with stab wounds to his face following an incident in Newport. Gwent Police said officers received reports of disorder between several people near the town bridge and Caerleon Road area of Newport at around 5.35pm on Tuesday, July 5.
The Welsh Ambulance Service said two rapid response vehicles and an emergency ambulance to the scene. Eyewitnesses saw a police cordon in place in an alley behind The Neon venue on East Usk Road, off Clarence Place. A police spokesperson said a man, aged 17, from the area was taken to University Hospital Wales, Cardiff, after sustaining minor stab wounds to his face.
The area was taped off my police as investigations continued. Police are asking any witnesses to get in touch.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "Yesterday (Tuesday 5 July), at approximately 5.35pm, officers responded to a report of disorder between several people on the town bridge and Caerleon Road area of Newport.
"A 17-year-old man from the area sustained minor stab wounds to the face and was taken to University Hospital of Wales for treatment. Officers are currently investigating the report to establish the circumstances around the incident but are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to contact Gwent Police on 101, quoting log: 2200224469."
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at approximately 5.40pm, July 5, to an incident on East Usk Road in Newport. We deployed two rapid response vehicles carrying Advanced Paramedic Practitioners and an emergency ambulance to the scene. One patient was conveyed to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for further treatment."
