A teenager was left with blood "pouring" from her head in a nightclub after a glass was thrown into the air.
Kirsty Davies was with her friends in Peppermint on Wind Street, Swansea, at about 12.40am on Sunday when what she believes to have been a half-pint glass landed on her head. Police are investigating after the 19-year-old suffered heavy bleeding from her scalp and spent six hours in A&E.
The HSBC worker from Neath told WalesOnline : "It was the first time I'd been in Peppermint. It was really busy. We were on the dancefloor near the DJ booth, and the drink in the glass had splashed my friend, then the glass hit me. I honestly didn't know what had happened. I knew I'd been hit but I thought the blood pouring down my face was drink."

She added: "I don't think the glass shattered on my head, I didn't hear it smash, but it was hard to know what happened. I was like, 'Oh my God, my head.' My friends thought I was just on about the drink that splashed down, but I started crying and when they took me to the bathroom they could see the blood all over my top, my shoes, my bag.
"To be fair to the staff, they handled it as well as they could. One of them was called Cath, she was lovely and cleaned the blood off my face in case there was glass on my head. They took me to a pop-up medic place by Wind Street with police officers and St John Ambulance. They ordered a taxi for me and I went to Morriston Hospital.
"I think I got there at about 1.30am and I waited two hours to see a nurse. They then announced it would take another eight or nine hours to be seen. I was already drained mentally and physically so my dad took me home and we went to Port Talbot A&E minor injuries unit where they cleaned the wound up for me and put glue on the gouge. They basically said I wasn't allowed to get it wet or put any soap on it for five days and it should then heal."
Kirsty, who was in A&E for a total of six hours, said she still has "quite a bit of a headache" but medics have informed her she is not concussed. She believes the injury could have been "a lot worse".
"I can't understand what the person was thinking," she said. "I suffer with anxiety attacks and having been spiked previously, it does make me scared to go out to clubs in the future.
"I popped down to Peppermint yesterday with a friend and they showed us the CCTV footage but you can't really see a lot. I'm hoping police can clear up the footage."
After sharing her experience online Kirsty received a message from another clubber who said they were hit by a glass in October at the same venue. When Kirsty returned to Peppermint she suggested the bar could swap its glasses for plastic or paper cups. "They told me the glasses are shatterproof," she said.

"The throwing of objects is unacceptable, and such primitive behaviour is not tolerated at Peppermint. Our management team, bar and waiting staff, and security teams are assisting South Wales Police with their enquiries.”
A South Wales Police spokesman said the force is investigating the assault. "It is reported that a [glass] was thrown into the air at the location and it struck the victim — who comes from the Cimla area of Neath — while she was on the dancefloor," he added. "Officers are appealing for anyone with information concerning this incident or who may have witnessed it to contact South Wales Police on 101 and quote reference 2200204708."
