A 16-year-old boy has died in a quad bike crash in rural northwest Tasmania.
Police were contacted by the boy's family on Wednesday afternoon after they couldn't find him.
He was discovered down an embankment in the early hours of Thursday on Minnies Road near the coastal town of Wynyard.
Safe Work Australia says it is the ninth quad bike fatality nationwide this year.
Police have asked anyone who saw a red Honda quad bike in the area on Wednesday afternoon to contact them.
There was a quad bike crash at nearby Oldina in November which killed a 16-year-old boy and badly injured his 16-year-old female passenger.
In February, a 14-year-old girl died after crashing the 4x4 Polaris Ranger she was driving on a private property at Bridgewater, north of Hobart.
A nine-year-old girl was killed in July when she was thrown from a quad bike while travelling as a passenger on a popular mountain track south of Perth.
