A teenager is fighting for his life after a horror crash on the M7 motorway in Co Tipperary.
The motorway has been closed between Junction 26 Nenagh and Junction 27 Birdhill with diversions in place.
The single vehicle collision happened shortly after 9pm yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the car was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.
The condition of the man, aged in his late teens, is understood to be critical.
The scene will be examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators this morning.
Motorists are being advised that traffic diversions between J26 and J27 are in place via the R445 (Old N7).
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
A spokesperson said: “Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury traffic collision on the M7 motorway in County Tipperary on Monday the 5th of December, 2022.
“Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
“Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the vicinity at the time of the collision are asked to make it available to investigating Gardai.”
