A suspect is currently on the run after a tragic incident in Virginia, where a teenager was shot and killed near a hotel. The Fairfax County Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting multiple shots fired in the 13000 block of Coppermine Road around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Upon arrival, officers found a victim with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to save the teenager, they later succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. Deputy Chief Brooke Wright expressed deep sorrow over the situation, emphasizing the devastating impact on the victim's family.
Authorities believe the altercation stemmed from a dispute among a group of young individuals who were acquainted with each other. Three people were involved in the incident, during which at least three rounds were fired. The exact number of times the teenager was shot remains unclear.
Due to concerns that the suspect might have fled towards a nearby elementary school, the school was put on secure building status as a precaution. The lockdown was lifted later in the evening as students were being reunited with their parents.
The suspect, described as a Hispanic male dressed in all black clothing, is currently being pursued by law enforcement. Lieutenant Wright assured the public that every effort is being made to apprehend the suspect and gather evidence to ensure justice is served in this case.
