Teenager dies after climbing into a giant bin and being compressed by recycling truck

A teenager has died after climbing into a dumpster and being compressed by a recycling truck.

Kellen Bischoff, 19, from New Jersey was coming back from a night out on Saturday when he was found dead at around 8.45am at the Total Recycling Facility in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania.

The talented teen, who played drums in a local band, was visiting family in the area when he attended an off-campus house party near Kutztown University.

However, after he failed to come back, he was reported missing by concerned family members.

In the early hours of Saturday, he was caught on CCTV footage climbing into a dumpster behind Dollar Tree on Constitution Boulevard, according to authorities.

But just hours later, a recycling truck arrived and emptied the dumpster into the back of the truck, where he was crushed to death.

Police believe the 19-year-old's death was accidental after an autopsy was performed on Monday, as the report stated his injuries 'were consistent with having been dumped into and later compressed by the trash truck.'

Toxicology reports into his death are pending as the teen leaves behind his devastated parents Patty and Mike and his twin brother Nathaniel and little sister Reagan.

His bandmates Julian Contreras, Alex Rietmann, Nick Anastasatos, and Estrella Vasquez Morales have since launched a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral costs.

They wrote: "Kellen was the drummer in our band Hellfire and was a dear friend of all of ours. He was very dedicated and passionate about music and our band.

"'Due to his unfortunate and tragic passing, we have set up this GoFundMe to help the Bischoff family for any expenses such as the funeral."

They have also set up a Meal Train fundraiser which sees people drop off meals or donate money to those going through a difficult time.

On the page, they wrote: "We are heartbroken for them, their loss is immense."

Mr Bischoff had graduated from Southern Regional High School with honours in May and gained a scholarship to attend Full Sail University to study music - his passion.

His heartbroken family said their son was 'infectious' and 'fun-loving' personality that 'left an impression on all who knew him'.

A tribute was paid to the former bandmate by his friends on Instagram who said he had the potential to be one of the best drummers.

The band wrote: "He had incredible potential to one day be one of the best drummers. He was incredibly passionate and persistent in his pursuit of music. We couldn’t have asked for a better drummer to rock out with in the time we had together."
