A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a man following a fatal brawl involving dozens of other youths.

Police were called to reports of a violent clash between a group in Melbourne's outer west about 7pm on Friday.

Officers arrived to McBurnie Drive, Kurunjang to find two men, aged 18 and 22, and a 15-year-old boy with injuries.

Emergency services tried to revive the 18-year-old man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 22-year-old man and 15-year-old boy, both from Harkness, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 15-year-old has subsequently been charged with murder.

He will face a children's court at a later date.

The 22-year-old remains in hospital under police guard.

Police believed the incident was targeted and the people involved were known to each other.

Up to 40 people dispersed from the scene after police arrived.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or those with dashcam or CCTV footage are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
