Met Police have charged a 19-year-old over the college stabbing (PA) - (PA Archive)

A teenager has been charged with attempted murder after a student was stabbed outside his sixth form college in Woolwich.

O’Quaine Simpson, 19, is accused of trying to kill the 18-year-old and possession of a knife outside Shooters Hill College on Monday.

Police were called to the scene in Prince Imperial Road at around 4.20pm after reports of a stabbing, and found a year 12 pupil had been injured.

The injured student was taken to hospital for treatment to stab wounds. He was initially in a life threatening condition, Scotland Yard said, but is now stable in hospital.

Simpson, of Dacres Road in Lewisham, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon, and is due to appear at Bromley magistrates court on Thursday morning.

Police said a 17-year-old girl has also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

She has been set free on bail as the investigation continues.

The case against Simpson is expected to be sent to a crown court due to the serious nature of the attempted murder charge.

This incident came a day after two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, were stabbed on Kilburn High Street in north London.

And on Tuesday, in a wave of violence in London, 14-year-old Kelyan Bokassa was stabbed to death on a 472 double-decker bus on Woolwich Church Street.
