Teenager arrested at Bromley College after student fight 'involving knife'

A teenager has been arrested after a fight at Bromley College that is believed to have involved a knife.

Police were called to the south-east London college’s campus in Rookery Lane, Bromley, shortly before 12.30pm on Thursday to reports of a fight.

“Officers attended the scene and recovered a knife,” said a Met police spokesperson.

“A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH.

“There were no reports of any injuries.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”

The person arrested is understood to be an 18-year-old.

A spokesperson for the college, which is part of London South East Colleges, said the fight involved three students, and was “quickly” dealt with by staff.

“An altercation took place at our Bromley Campus yesterday (September 5), involving three students,” the spokesperson told Newsshopper in a statement.

“The situation was very quickly diffused by staff, led by our campus support team, and the police attended immediately. No one was hurt or injured.

“This is now a police matter and we are working closely with them to ensure the continued safety of all our staff and students.

“We understand that this may raise anxiety and concern for parents/carers and students.

“We would like to provide reassurance that our community’s safety is our absolute priority.

“We put additional security measures and support in place immediately – ensuring that our campus continues to provide the highest levels of safety for staff and students.

“If you have any concerns, please contact the College on 020 3954 4000.”
