A teenage boy was arrested by police who seized knives as they patrolled the Metrolink network. Greater Manchester Police deployed plain clothes officers on the tram where they made the discovery earlier today.
Officers picked out three 'suspicious' passengers on the tram and recovered two knives during searches. Police revealed they arrested a 16-year-old boy as part of the operation.
The teenager is set to be quizzed by officers shortly.

"Plain clothes officers from #gmptransportunit have been travelling onboard Metrolink services in the city today," said officers manning the GMP City Centre Twitter account.
"Officers identified 3 suspicious passengers and recovered 2 knives during a search. A 16 year old male has been arrested and is currently in custody awaiting interview."
