— Detective Inspector Sarah Ball

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remains in police custody for questioning.

Initial enquiries suggest this is an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public but a scene will remain in place overnight whilst officers continue with their investigation.

Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area before, during, or after the incident.

Detective Inspector Sarah Ball of GMP Salford division said: “We understand this incident may cause concern to the local community, but I’d like to reassure residents we have officers working around the clock to establish the circumstances.

“Extra officers have been deployed to the area to reassure the community. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to them, they are there to support you.

“I would urge members of the public who witnessed anything to please come forward and report this information to us. No matter how small the information may seem, it could prove vital to the investigation.”

Information can be shared with GMP by calling 0161 856 5410 quoting log 2730 of 23/3/23, by using the Live Chat function on the website www.gmp.police.uk, or alternatively information can be shared anonymously via Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
