Teenager arrested after 21-year-old Robert McNally found dead in Paisley

A TEENAGER has been arrested after a 21-year-old died in Paisley.

Emergency services responded to a call to the Maree Road and Lochbroom Drive area of the town on Saturday at around 4.15pm following a report of a “disturbance”.

Officers found a 21-year-old man seriously injured – and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, he was named as Robert McNally. His family released a photo, which was shared by Police Scotland.

A second man, a 19-year-old, was taken to hospital for treatment before being discharged.

On Monday, Police Scotland said the 19-year-old had been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal incident.

He is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on January 20, officers said.

A spokesperson said that the force would retain a “presence” in the Maree Road area but that there was no danger to the public.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Euan McMillan said: “My thoughts remain with the deceased's family and friends, and we continue to offer them support at this time.

“There is no risk to the wider public, however we will continue to have a police presence in the area and anyone with any concerns can approach these officers.

“Our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I would appeal to anyone who has any video footage around the time, including from phones, CCTV or dash-cams, to please contact police.

“In addition, any witnesses or anyone who has any additional information which may assist, we ask that you come forward.”
