Teenager, 15, charged after 'eggs thrown at police car and officers verbally abused'

A teenager will appear in court after eggs were allegedly thrown at a police car and officers were 'verbally abused'. The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested in Brinnington, Stockport.

The teenager has been charged with criminal damage, attempted criminal damage and a public order offence. He has since been bailed to appear in court on Tuesday, August 1.

It comes as Greater Manchester Police is continuing to investigate alleged incidents of anti-social behaviour in Brinnington from Monday (June 26). Next week, GMP will be joining other forces in a week of action against anti-social behaviour.

Inspector John Picton, of GMP's Stockport Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Officers from our neighbourhood policing teams will be out and about across Stockport next week as anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. Engagement work is also ongoing; my priority is to build public confidence in the police by working with partners and communities.

"Police officers and PCSOs will be attending public meetings on a regular basis and there will be days of action over the coming weeks." Anyone with information about a crime or who has concerns should contact police online using LiveChat or by calling 101.

Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 in an emergency.
