Teenage girl released on police bail after stabbing at shopping centre

A teenage girl has been released on bail after she was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in a Welsh shopping centre on Saturday.

The 17-year-old was arrested alongside a 27-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy after a man was stabbed outside Castle Court shopping centre in Caerphilly, at around 1.25am on Saturday, May 14. The teen was released pending further enquires while the two males were released without charge.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries initially described as "life threatening" but Gwent Police provided an update on Sunday and said he remains at the University Hospital of Wales where he is currently in a stable condition.

The 32-year-old was reportedly walking along Castle Court with a 29-year-old woman from Caerphilly when they were allegedly approached by a group of people and assaulted. During the assault, the man was stabbed and the woman received head injuries.

The 29-year-old woman was also taken to the University Hospital of Wales for treatment, but she has since been discharged.

Police have said they would like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 1am and 1.30am on Saturday morning, or anyone with information that could help investigations.

Information can be reported to police on 101, quoting reference 2200159970. Information can also be reported to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
