New Orleans police are currently investigating the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl, Kristhal Chinchilla-Canizales, who went missing during a group trip to a museum in the city's Central Business District. Chinchilla-Canizales was under the custody of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) at the time of her disappearance on May 22.
According to sources, the teenager reportedly 'left the group' during the visit to the museum and has not been seen since. Authorities have expressed concerns that she may have fallen victim to human trafficking, although the specific details leading to this suspicion have not been disclosed.
Due to Chinchilla-Canizales' age, limited information is currently available about the case. She was last seen wearing a black Harley-Davidson pullover and a blue yoga-style jumpsuit. The 14-year-old girl is described as 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 135 lbs.
The New Orleans Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding Chinchilla-Canizales' whereabouts to contact the NOPD Special Investigations Division at 504-658-5267. The investigation into her disappearance and the possibility of human trafficking involvement is ongoing as authorities work to locate the missing teenager.
