A 17-year-old girl is in a “critical” condition in hospital following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian near Edinburgh.
Police were called to reports of a crash involving a black MG HS car on Haddington Road in Musselburgh at around 4.15pm on Friday.
Emergency services attended the incident and a teenage girl was taken to hospital, where her condition is described as “critical”.
The 37-year-old male driver was also taken to hospital, and was arrested in relation to the incident.
Another man, 43, who had been travelling as a passenger in the vehicle, did not require medical treatment.
The road was closed following the crash while investigations were carried out.
Sergeant Dominic Doyle said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I would ask anyone who has yet to speak to us to get in touch.
