Teen rushed to hospital after being hit by car near Lanarkshire primary school

A teenager was rushed to hospital after hit by a car near a Lanarkshire primary school.

The 14-year-old was hit by the vehicle in Carlisle Road outside Blackwood Primary School just after 1.30pm on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services raced to the scene with the youngster being taken to hospital in Glasgow.

The road was closed for several hours following the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.40pm on Friday, March 31, police were called to reports of a road crash involving a 14-year-old boy and a car on Carlisle Road, Lanark.

“Emergency services attended and the boy was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he remains at this time.

“Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are currently ongoing.”
