A pregnant woman has suffered a heart attack after a teenage boy allegedly threw a rock at her in Perth's southern suburbs.

Police allege the boy, 17, threw a rock at a car during a dispute in a shopping centre car park at Karawara on Tuesday night.

It broke through the passenger-side window, hitting the pregnant woman, 30, in the head.

This caused the woman to have a heart attack, WA Police said on Wednesday.

The incident was caused by a disagreement between the people in the car and a group of people at the car park.

The woman was given medical assistance by police officers and members of the public at the scene, before being taken to hospital.

She is now in the intensive care unit, police said.

The 17-year-old has been charged with grievous bodily harm and breach of bail over the alleged attack.

He will appear in Perth Children's Court on Wednesday.

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam vision to contact them.
