Teen raced to Dublin hospital with serious injuries following late night crash in Kildare

A teenage boy was raced to Tallaght Hospital with serious injuries following a late night crash in Kildare.

The single vehicle collision happened on Rathangan Road in Monastrevin at around 10pm. Gardai and emergency services raced to the scene where a total of three teenagers were injured. Three other teens, a boy and two girls, were taken to Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise for treatment of their injuries.

The road was closed for a time while the scene was examined by forensic collision investigators but has since reopened. Gardai have appealed for witnesses or those with dash-cam footage to contact them.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision which occurred on Friday evening, 17th March 2023 at Rathangan Road, Monastrevin, Co. Kildare. Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a single car road traffic collision at approximately 10:00pm.

"A male and two females in their late teens were taken to Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise to be treated for their injuries. Another male in his teens has been taken to Tallaght University Hospital to be treated for his injuries which are understood to be serious.

"The road was closed to allow for a technical examination of the scene to be conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since reopened.

"Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. They are particularly appealing to those with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time to make it available to them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station 045 527 730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
