Authorities have revealed disturbing details about the tragic shooting incident that took place at Antioch High School in Nashville, Tennessee. The gunman, identified as 17-year-old Solomon Henderson, entered the school's cafeteria and opened fire, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante and injuring another 17-year-old student.
According to investigators, Henderson fired 10 shots from a 9 mm pistol within a span of 16 seconds before taking his own life. The handgun, loaded with nine rounds, was recovered at the scene along with a magazine containing seven rounds.
Prior to the shooting, Henderson posted photos to social media from a restroom near the cafeteria. It was initially believed that he took a bus to school, but it was later confirmed that his mother had driven him there.
Upon searching Henderson's residence, no additional firearms were found. However, detectives discovered two lengthy documents believed to be created by Henderson on non-traditional websites. One document was 51 pages long, while the other was 288 pages.
Authorities stated that Henderson was significantly influenced by harmful and objectionable web-based material, particularly from non-traditional sites. The pistol used in the shooting was purchased in 2022 by an individual in Arizona and was not reported stolen.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting in determining how Henderson obtained the handgun. The investigation is being conducted by homicide unit detectives, the Specialized Investigations Division, and the FBI.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers posed by online content and the importance of monitoring and addressing concerning behavior in young individuals.
