A teenager who was caught on CCTV driving carelessly in a Welsh car park has had his licence revoked. Gwent Police confirmed the action had been taken and shared a video to a car spinning around the car park in Abergavenny.
A car can be seen spinning in doughnuts around the nearly empty Fairfield car park in the town's centre. The time stamp on the CCTV appears to show it happened at around 6.30am on Sunday, January 15, this year.
The 90-second video shared by the police show a car being driven at high speeds around the car park, before the brakes were applied and the car spun round.
Gwent Police said: "An 18 year old man has had his driving licence revoked by the DVLA following being convicted of careless driving around Fairfiled Carpark, Abergavenny."
A statement added that patrols, CCTV reviews and use of car park gate will continue in the area.
Government guidelines say that a licence can be taken away if you "if you no longer meet our licensing criteria". An example they give is of when we might do this is if you are convicted of a relevant criminal offence.
The guidelines add: "We can also suspend your licence if we believe that you are a threat to public safety or that it is in the public interest to do so."
