An 18-year-old has died after hanging out of the window of a stolen car that rolled over in the Alice Springs CBD.
Police received a report of a stolen utility before 2am on Friday, with the keys allegedly taken from a cabin in a nearby caravan park.
The vehicle then drove through the boom gates of the caravan park before rolling and crashing as it attempted to turn right into a CBD street just before 4am.
CCTV showed a male passenger seated on the door in the open window space when the car crashed.
He was crushed by the vehicle while eight males ran from the scene.
The 18-year-old was taken to Alice Springs Hospital where he later died.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner appealed to the public to help identify the occupants of the vehicle.
"Detectives are investigating the circumstances of the crash and the alleged criminal offending leading up to the crash," he said.
Twelve people have died on NT roads this year, up from two in the same period in 2023.
