Teen charged with attempted murder after Walthamstow bus stabbing

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after a boy was stabbed on an north-east London bus.

The teen was arrested after another 16-year-old was stabbed on board the Route 158 bus in Walhamstow’s Blackhorse Lane at 3.15pm on Tuesday.

The defendant, who is due to appear at Stratford Youth Court on Friday, is also charged with possession of a knife.

The victim remains in hospital in a “serious but stable” condition, police said. His family has been informed.

Speaking earlier this week, Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy said of the incident: “I know this will be deeply upsetting for residents and that you will share my concern for the young person now in hospital.

“I ask again for you not to speculate online about this incident, out of respect for the victim and their family, and to come forward if you have any information that is relevant to this matter.”

She also organised a public meeting with Met representatives “to discuss the violence we have seen in our community”.
