Teen arrested over assault after gang of 15 youths 'hang around' McDonald's

A 15-year-old was arrested following an assault outside McDonald's.

Police were called to the McDonald's on Church Street, St Helens on Sunday to reports of an altercation.

There was reportedly a gang of 15 youths at the scene, with the offender running off towards the bus station, where he was arrested..

One teenager had been assaulted and had his coat ripped.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "At around 4pm on Sunday 30 January we received a report of an altercation on Church Street, St Helens.

"It was reported that a male youth had assaulted another youth and ripped his jacket, near McDonalds.

"Officers attended and, following CCTV enquiries, detained and arrested a 15-year-old male on suspicion of Section 39 Assault and Criminal Damage.

"He was taken into custody for questioning and has now been released under investigation pending further enquiries

"No injuries were reported.
