A 14-year-old boy behind the wheel of a stolen car with five mates on board allegedly clocked 160km/h in a 90-zone as he led police on a pursuit through the NSW Hunter Valley.
Officers used spikes and set up a roadblock to stop the speeding Volkswagen but not before the youth rammed two highway patrol cars.
The sedan was spotted on the New England Highway at Whittingham just after 10.30pm on Saturday.
A chase was initiated when police attempted to pull the vehicle over. Its flight led them through Singleton and Muswellbrook before coming to an end near Aberdeen.
"During the roadblock, the Volkswagen allegedly rammed into two highway patrol vehicles," a spokesperson said.
"All six occupants - a 14-year-old male driver and his five male passengers, one aged 15 and four aged 17 - were arrested at the scene and taken to Muswellbrook Police Station."
The alleged driver was charged with failing to stop during a pursuit, driving recklessly, taking a vehicle without consent, speeding more than 45km/h over the limit, possession of suspected stolen goods and property damage.
Police claim he "travelled at speeds up to 160km/h in a marked 90km/h zone".
The four 17-year-olds in the car were each charged with riding in a stolen vehicle and possession of means to disguise their faces with the intention of committing and indictable offence.
The 15-year-old boy was charged with riding in the vehicle.
All six were refused bail to appear before a children's court on Sunday.
Two hours before the chase, Hunter Valley police also stopped and searched an SUV on the New England Highway at Parkville, allegedly seizing 682 packets of cigarettes, 40 vapes hidden in exercise equipment, and more than $52,000 in cash.
The Toyota had been picked for a random breath test about 8.30pm.
The 23-year-old driver has been charged with dealing with the proceeds of crime, carrying a knife in a public place and possession of suspected stolen goods.
He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Sunday.
