Teen, 16, killed in horror moped crash at Dagenham roundabout

A teenage boy has been killed after being knocked from his moped in a horror crash with a car in Dagenham.

The 16-year-old rider of the moped died in hospital hours after the collision at 1.30pm on Sunday in Gale Street, Dagenham.

Witnesses described the “young-looking boy” receiving CPR from paramedics at the scene.

One said: “Paramedics were working on him, it was awful. To be honest I had to walk away and get in my car as it brought back too many memories of my nephew’s accident years ago.”

Friends of the teenager left tributes at the scene of the crash.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of a collision between a car and a moped in Gale Street, Dagenham.

“The rider of the moped – a 16-year-old boy – was taken to hospital. Sadly he died at hospital later that day.

“The boy’s family have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers.”

“The driver of the car stopped at the scene. There has been no arrest.”

Any witnesses who are yet to speak to police are asked to call 101, ref 3360/18sep.
