Given recent events such as the whiff on Jermaine Burton and ample cap space, it seems likelier than ever that the Cincinnati Bengals will find a way to keep Tee Higgins ahead of free agency.
But that won’t stop Higgins’ name from coming up in chatter around free agency.
Plenty of teams figure to be watching the Bengals closely to see what happens with Higgins. According to ESPN’s Ben Solak, that includes the Green Bay Packers:
While I love the versatility of the Packers’ wide receiver room (when it is healthy), they could use a clear WR1 who can take over games with consistent eight-plus-target outings. Expect them to be in the Tee Higgins hunt, but if getting him gets too expensive for them, they could package someone like Romeo Doubs — who will be in the final year of his rookie deal in 2025 — to grab a frustrated star from another team.
The Packers — or another team — getting Higgins, though, would hinge on him somehow not agreeing to a contract extension with the Bengals and avoiding a second franchise tag.
Considering a new report said Higgins has been plotting remaining with Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, it seems unlikely the Packers will get this chance.
Either way, add the Packers to the list of teams, such as the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots, that will have interest should the Bengals fail to get the obvious done with Higgins.
