Ted Lasso steals the show at the Emmy Awards once again - see list of key winners

Ted Lasso has once again took home a number of top gongs at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

Star and co-creator of the comedy, Jason Sudeikis, was aptly awarded the best comedy actor prize on the 74th annual edition of the ceremony.

The wins echoed last year's accolade for the Apple TV+ series and Jason said he was "truly flattered" by the achievement.

He told the crowded room: "I've sat at home and watched award shows. My mom loves award shows, and I always bust people's balls to get up here and say, 'I didn't think I had a chance.' And I really didn't because, I mean, the amazing group that I was nominated with.

"I'm not overly prepared, but I did take classes at the Second City, so I'm going to go for it."

He went on to thank his parents, cast and network for all the support he had been given on the series.

The comedy also picked up prizes in a number of other categories. Among the winners was MJ Delaney, who won the Directing for a Comedy Series Award, and Brett Goldstein, who was voted the winner of the Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Award.

Elsewhere Jennifer Coolidge won the Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie Awards for her part in The White Lotus and was roundly praised online for dancing her way off stage after her acceptance speech ran over the allocated time.

One speech which wasn't as well received by the viewers at home - or those in the audience in LA - however, was Jesse Armstrong's for Succession's Best Drama Series win.

The writer made a jibe about King Charles III and how the monarch hadn't been voted for by the public. After being told by the show's star Brian Cox to "keep it Royalist," Armstrong quipped: "I’m not saying we’re more legitimate in our win than he is,” before giving the more usual polite thanks speech.
