Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis hints at future for the show after season three finale

Jason Sudeikis has announced that the "story is done" for Apple TV's sports comedy, Ted Lasso.

The 47-year-old plays the loveable football coach in the series and has previously hinted at the ultimate end for the show being at the end of season three despite there being no definitive plot.

However, speaking on the Fly On The Wall podcast, Jason confirmed that the Ted Lasso team had only written up to the season three finale.

"This story is done," he said. "It sounds like such a political answer, but it's the truth. We only conceived these three [seasons], then this thing became this big old thing."

He added that he had previously considered extending the show further, suggesting that the series could continue in the form of a spin-off.

"Whether it's [a book], whether it's doing podcasts about the episodes to offer those audio commentaries... just to talk through things and the themes," he continued.

"And also it would explain the show in a much more cerebral way than I ever would have been able to explain it to anybody. Yeah, there are opportunities, I think, for spin-offs."

Despite the inevitable end for Ted Lasso, Jason's co-star Hannah Waddingham explained that she'd shared her ideas for the show beyond season three with Jason and planned to "trap Jason" to get him to write more seasons.

"I mean I feel like trapping him in a dungeon with a notepad and a pen and just going: 'Dude, what are you doing?' You can't step away from it. The characters are so beloved and we all love it," she joked during a chat on the The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The latest confirmation about the series comes after fans went wild over special sports cameos in the latest episode of the series.

Renowned Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and former football stars Thierry Henry and Gary Lineker made an appearance in the show.

"Ted Lasso bringing in Thierry Henry, Gary Lineker and Pep Guardiola for its last episodes wasn't something I expected," one fan wrote.

"Pep Guardiola showing up on Ted Lasso and talking to Ted was so f***ing awesome," a second put.
