Ted Lasso season 3: Star drops cryptic clue about Apple TV show after release date hint

Ted Lasso actor, executive producer and writer Brett Goldstein has appeared to hint that the upcoming season of the series will be its third and final one.

Goldstein plays and writes the character Roy Kent in the football comedy series, which is based on former Manchester United captain Roy Keane. For his portrayal, the actor has received a Primetime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for each of the two previous seasons.

Season three of the series, Apple confirmed in January, is to be released this spring, meaning that it could premiere as early as March. That would be a year after filming first started on the third season, though shooting did not wrap until November.

While appearing as a guest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Goldstein was asked by the host about the future of the series. A rather cryptic reply followed.

Goldstein answered: “Wouldn’t it be better if you didn’t know everything?” Continuing, the actor explained: "We can't say anything, and we can't say anything, partly because I'm not allowed to say anything.”

After admitting to understanding that everyone wants to know about the show's future, Goldstein added: "There's so few surprises anymore, and if you’re into it, how wonderful to discover it again in a new way. I don’t want to spoil anything."

Jokingly likening it to another American television series, Game of Thrones, the comedian quipped that "when the majority of the main cast die in this show, I think you figure, unless they’re going supernatural, this is the end."

Joking aside, Goldstein made clear that “the decision will ultimately be down to star and writer Jason Sudeikis” before concluding: "I love all of these characters and want it to end well, but Jason has a very clear vision and always has. No one is phoning it."

When is Ted Lasso season 3 release date?

While there has not been an exact date shared for when season three will release, Apple TV+ recently revealed when we can expect it to hit our screens.

Apple TV+ revealed the series would arrive in “Spring 2023” - so we could expect it to drop sometime in March, April or May.
