Tech & Science Daily: Ukraine invasion threatens “vital” climate research

Scientists are warning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is putting vital climate research into stores of carbon gas at risk.

Experts from Northumbria University say the conflict is stopping them from travelling to Siberia to do their research.

They said 60% of Russian territory, called permafrost, is estimated to hold twice as much greenhouse gas as the atmosphere.

The UK Space Agency is funding four new projects for space, including a power station which can generate water and oxygen, and new tech that can withstand the high radiation levels on Mars.

The agency is also funding projects to create a communications tool for astronauts to deal with the delay between Mars and Earth, and a robot that will search for things like oxygen and water in Moon rocks.

American comedian Pete Davidson is heading to space. He’s part of the crew travelling on Blue Origin’s NS-20 flight next Wednesday.
