Virgin Orbit has secured licences for the UK’s first space launch.

The Civil Aviation Authority said Sir Richard Branson’s company has taken as many steps as can be expected to ensure safety risks are “as low as reasonably practicable”.

The firm is planning a launch from Spaceport Cornwall in Newquay in the coming weeks. Following a successful rehearsal last month.
