Tears of the Kingdom Mayachin Shrine solutions

The Tears of the Kingdom Mayachin Shrine solution is a bit deceptive. This early-game shrine looks complicated and gives you half a dozen objects to mess around with – and that’s half a dozen more than you actually need. Granted, this is Tears of the Kingdom, so you can make whatever your brain dreams up and probably solve the puzzle in a completely different way. However, if you’re just wanting to breeze in and get the orb as quickly as possible, here’s what the Fixed Device solution requires.

Mayachin Shrine location

Mayachin Shrine is southwest of Lookout Landing and Jiosin Shrine, right near the Exchange Ruins. An angry Moblin is inside the ruins, so if you go exploring before entering the shrine, make sure you’re prepared.

Mayachin Shrine overview

The Mayachin Shrine introduces a mechanic that, if you haven’t explored much elsewhere yet, is probably new to you: Zonai objects that pass through solid material. These usually have a stake-shaped bottom portion that you can see when you use Ultrahand. The solid part attaches to most objects, like everything else you can manipulate with Ultrahand. If you embed the stake in something, you can just cancel Ultrahand, and the object will stick where you left it – no attachment required.

Bear that in mind for future puzzles, including the tressure chest outside in front of the Shrine. For now, though, hop onto the rotating platform, and approach the chamber’s center.

In front of you are a switch, a crystal, and a ball that keeps rolling down a slanted platform, with a device near the end of the platform closest to you. The platform has two sticks and two phase sticks – one in the middle and one behind the dangling stone slab to your right.

Mayachin Shrine solution 1

  • Use the platform as a paddle
  • Remove obstacles from the platform
  • Time your hit to launch the ball onto the ramp and into the target

Turn around, activate Ultrahand, and pop the platform out of the rotating device. Stick the phase end of the platform into the device that the ball rolls past. Try to get the phase portion of it all the way in, and make sure it’s not an angle. Otherwise, it’ll whack the ball at an odd angle and mess up the puzzle solution.

Step on the switch next to the crystal to reveal a large, glowing orange target. You need to make the ball hit that target with some force. Just touching it won’t work, so don’t be like me and waste your time building a long poking device with the ball at the end of it.

Make sure the ball’s path is clear of any obstacles, including the phase item that’s sunk into the ground in the middle. Climb back up to the crystal, and wait for the ball to approach.

The timing of the next part is a bit difficult, so you might have to try it more than once. As the ball touches the second stone rectangle on the ground – in the area marked by the yellow rectangle above – smack the crystal. This should send it up the ramp and into the target, though if you’re off by half a second or so, then it might fly over the edge or in the wrong direction. If you miss, make sure to hit the crystal again to reset the paddle.

Mayachin Shrine solution 2 - How to get the Mayachin Shrine chest

The door to the orb opens after you hit the target, and you’re free to go. Or you can stick around and solve the second puzzle.

A second target appears after you clear the main puzzle, this time behind the hanging stone slab. It looks complicated, like you have to mess with the sticks to move the slab out of the way. You don’t. It just takes good timing again.

Hit the crystal when the ball touches the last rectangle for this one, though the timing is a bit tricky here as well. The chest only contains a weak Energizing Elixir, which you can make on your own anyway. If you get annoyed and want to walk out, you’re not really missing anything.
