The excitement levels within the Manchester City fanbase went up a few more notches on Sunday evening, as incoming striker Erling Haaland scored a brace while on international duty for Norway.
City ended their two-year search for a new striker by agreeing to sign the 21-year-old from Borussia Dortmund for £51million and he'll arrive as Sergio Aguero's successor. And on Sunday night, Haaland's cool penalty and low rifled effort for Norway extended his current scoring run to seven consecutive games, and increased his 2021/22 tally for club and country to 40 goals in 37 games.
And it wasn't just the goals that delighted City fans. Despite the news of a deal being agreed last month, Haaland has not yet been officially announced as a City player.

That has sparked fears that the deal might have reached some sort of snag, but Haaland's post-game Instagram post should allay those fears. After the game he posted a video of him sat in the Norway dressing room listening to Oasis hit Wonderwall — surely there's no better way to confirm you're joining City?
